The CONTENT of the program integrates 3 basic components:
1)Instrumental Enrichment(I.E.) - a world renown technique for improving cognitive skills
2)Group work - related to resolution of complex problems, while developing skill, and
self-confidence, using English as the vehicle for communication.
3)Specially developed reading materials - to extend skills and concepts to written mode.
begins with simple nonverbal activities
, and systematically builds a
repository of skills, concepts, and the words to express them.
Vocabulary increases as an outgrowth of a real need for the concepts,
that the words represent.
Who can benefit? - YOU!!!

Officially certified as a teacher trainer of I.E. techniques, by the
Hadassa Wizo Canada Institute for the Enhancement of Learning Potential,
B. A. Mathematics Education - Taught mathematics for many years.
Participated in numerous educational projects, including designing
and teaching, 2 original courses to meet special requirements
systems analyst, computer programmer- extensive Hi-tech experience
Our Teachers: are all officially trained and certified as teachers of I.E. by the
Hadassa Wizo Canada Institute for the Enhancement of Learning Potential
Speak English at the level of academic native speakers
Are all specially trained to use I.E. in the program
: The language of instruction is English, but English is not taught; nor is it
graded. Errors are corrected, only when necessary for comprehension.
Students are encouraged to not pay attention to errors.
The tools present problems, which have 1 or more solutions. After the students try to solve the problems, we discuss the solutions, enumerating strategies, and priorities. We then, look for the underlying principles that govern our choices, and where these principles appear in other settings.
We discover that many seemingly different techniques are based on the same principle:
Viewing the back of ones own head, using a mold, and dividing fractions are all based on the same logical principle. So is reverse psychology. If you find it, you will also understand subtraction of signed numbers.
(The headings are links to the official I.E. site)
Deals with concepts: concrete <=> abstract,
state <=> trait,
relevant <=> incidental data
2) global orientation north south etc.
Putting oneself in someone else's place (empathy)
4) Comparisons - before making judgments, one must be able to evaluate alternatives
using super-ordinate concepts and categories
5) Classification - using established standardized accepted categories and, developing
individualized categories for personal use when needed.
may be used to construct more than 1 whole.
- expressing ones self clearly, and paying careful attention,
for precise understanding of what others say
discovering the underlying principles which govern patterns
12) Stencil designs
- a unique activity aimed at fostering the handling of several sources
of information simultaneously
- uses cartoons-satirical treatment of problems, evaluating solutions
to problems and dilemmas. Some of the questions are ethical, others
involve perception and its effect on our ability to surmount difficulties
14) syllogisms -
drawing logical conclusions based on: If A implies B and it can be shown
that, A is true. It can concluded that B is also true.
(This is the sophisticated type of logic, found on IQ and psychometric tests)
Each tool teaches a different aspect of analytical thinking through meta-cognition.
We use these tools together with written materials, that we have developed, to focus on the application of these skills in academic, social and professional contexts. Lessons maximize application of these skills in contexts where, the students live work and study.
Prof. Feuerstein contends that virtually everyone is teachable. He is world renown for his remarkable success in teaching severely retarded, brain damaged, culturally deprived etc., and is recipient of the Israel Prize for his contribution to research in learning. However, his methods are no less effective with normal and highly intelligent learners.
His techniques center around:
(Learning Propensity Assessment Device) - a battery of tests designed to dynamically
evaluate and improve learning potential and achievement.
(Instrumental Enrichment) - 14, above mentioned instruments (workbooks).
Each instrument is designed to improve a different aspect of "intelligence".
They combine to form a powerful mechanism to effect long term cognitive development.
synthesizes the many facets of a background, of work developing learning skills from infancy to adulthood. It integrates technical educational, and language teaching skills into a program, that builds the whole person. Each part is reinforced and strengthened by every other
FORMAT: The course is divided into 50-hour units, offered as at least 2,4 hour sessions/ week, in an intensive workshop format, in order to intensify the effect of the initial stages for, fluency.
